The big sky country of New Zealand has showcased its underpopulated beauty in many films (The Lord of the Rings trilogy for example) and its magnificent biodiversity is a direct result of its sheer remoteness. It is a developed and high-income country with a strong and stable democracy.
New Zealand has two main islands separated by the Cook Straits. Mountainous South Island is the largest but the capital Wellington and also the country’s largest city Auckland are both on North Island.
Auckland is a modern University city surrounded by mountains and water with a temperate climate. The busy Central Business District has apartments that are not only convenient for the centre but also allow owners to make the most of the many street markets and art galleries. Other good suburbs include bohemian Ponsonby and the seaside commuter town of Howick.
In Wellington Brooklyn provides fabulous city and harbor views within a ten-minute commute of the centre while Khandallah is an affluent option overlooking Wellington Harbour.
