Extensive natural resources and a beautiful undiscovered coastline on the Indian Ocean have helped Mozambique start the long process of recovery from internal conflict that ended in 1992.
The capital Maputo is in the south, relatively close to the borders with Swaziland and South Africa. It is easily Mozambique’s largest and most populous city and features striking colonial architecture and bursts of pretty acacia and jacaranda trees.
Close to the centre of Maputo Polano and Sommerchield are favoured areas to live with a good range of schools and shops. The newer suburbs of Triunfo and Costa do Sol offer smart, larger homes, some on the waterfront.
